There is always a story to be told when it comes to food. Well, this group has an interesting perception, of themselves. This is their story.
The blackberries, blueberries and Bananas are just, sitting, chillin’, waiting for the beets to grow. It’s a beautiful day, the sun is shining, they’re all having fun, just waiting.
“Look over here, you guys. Take a real long look” say the blackberries. I’m so sweet and juicy, I look good up in here on these branches. You get me?” The others look towards the blackberries and smile.
“I can make your jam, nutritious I am, and packed with vitamin C. It’s a slam dunk. What can you do?”
“Well, well well, say the blueberries. Here we go again. You always talking about, you. We both have much in common. We’re both juicy and sweet, we can move to a groove, they sometimes even call us, brain food. There’s a kind of swagger about us. We’re packed full of fun, and get our goods from the sun and not forgetting that we’re low in sugar. You, get me?
“Feeling awkward,” say the bananas. “Why do you all want to make me feel so different?” I thought that being fruit, we could all shimmy up. We’d do well, together? With me, you can bake me, bread me, roast me in my skin. there is so much I can do, as well as providing some potassium too. We can be a great tasting smoothie, and children will love our taste if we mix it up together? We’d pack a mighty punch. You get me?”
“Wow! You talk too much for a bunch of bananas. Be cool,” say, the blueberries.
“I am cool,” mutter’s the bananas, under its skin, hoping the others, do not hear.
“What about, the beets,” squirts, the blackberries?
As, the beets smile and dig their roots firmly in the soil, as they watch the other discussing it all.
“Sorry guys,” say, the beets. “I’m not quite fit to party yet. You all relax, stay sweet and steady until I’m ready.”
“So what do we do now,” the bananas, peel?
“Nothing! Be cool, man! Let’s just, chill, relax, sit here and wait for the beets to ripen.” say the blueberries.
“But I am cool,” the bananas, say. “I’m beginning to doubt my unique self, with all you berries up in my face.”
“Hey, bananas. Don’t worry about what others say about you. You are cool, shout the beets. You know. Here in the soil, we see and feel almost everything. We never plant seeds of doubt. Don’t ever underestimate your natural beauty. You get me?”
